Lenthey graduated from the prestigious art school Art Center College of Design with a degree in illustration, and has won several international illustration awards. She bases her surreal psychological artwork on the insights she has had of her self-created universe and from reflections of life around her. Her inspirations for her creations have been a result of events and emotions experienced by herself and those closest to her. The focus of her artwork resembles a form of story-telling within the images, with an emphasis on cleverly ensconced minor details that reveal clues about the subject matter or character. Viewers of her paintings often say they experience a sense of the beauty that exists within the seemingly grotesque things or objects she portrays within her work. With her training in illustration and fine art, Lenthey aims to visually express her emotions through her paintings and she encourages viewers to think beyond what they see in order to question the rules and formalities they face in their reality. Most importantly, all of Lenthey’s artwork is an unlimited expression of her free will and boundless creativity, unbiased and independent of others’ judgments and common norms.
